About Us
Who We Are
Benzo.org was just a shot in the dark for a domain in 1998. The obvious reference is to benzodiazepenes, but the content here has nothing to do with that. I thought it was cool when I was setting up my home LAN at the time to have hostnames such as valium, xanax, ativan, etc. for my various nodes. I started blogging in 2000 with a different domain, but then took a break, resuming in 2003 on benzo.org. All previous archives are offline, but I may put them up again one day just for fun.
I started MexicoMedStudent.com before starting classes at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara Medical School in Guadalajara, México, in July of 2005 since any continued blogging would be inseparable from my new endeavor; however, benzo.org and mexicomedstudent.com are one and the same.
Almost all posts are by me, but sometimes others may pipe in for fun. My wife Claudia posts once in a blue moon, usually about life in general. My cousin, Raul, is a PGY-2 neurology resident at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and in the past has posted his thoughts.
To find out more about me, how I got here, etc. you can read a post I made answering some readers’ questions here.
Thanks for stopping by.
